Last month, 13 MCHS students participated in the McHenry County Honor Band (MCHB) hosted at Marengo Community High School. After passing a competitive audition in November, students were selected to become a part of a large ensemble consisting of the best band musicians from 13 McHenry County schools. Over the course of three days, students worked with eminent band composer Erika Svanoe from the University of Wisconsin-Stout. At the end of the event, MCHB gave a world premiere of a brand new piece by Dr. Svanoe entitled Ascendant written for the occasion of MCHB's 50th anniversary.
