On Tuesday, May 3, McHenry High School hosted a special speaker panel of alumni and former teachers to talk about the impact of Title IX, particularly on girls sports, as we approach the 50th anniversary of the landmark civil rights law.
The McHenry High School Activism Club sponsored the event, which allowed the five special guests to speak to students on May 3 during three class periods.
The speakers were:
Rose Adams - Class of 1970 alumna
Veronica Bierman Rogers - Class of 1974 alumna
Judy Walsh Smith - Class of 1960 alumna
Mary Winkel - Former teacher and coach from 1968-2002
Dorothy Drakeford Vick- Former teacher and GAA advisor from 1955-1958
