This past weekend, 15 MCHS Key Club members traveled to Springfield for the 71st Annual Illinois-Eastern Iowa Key Club District Convention to celebrate the past year and plan for next year.
MCHS club members and the club as a whole received the following awards and recognitions at the convention.
Distinguished President - Daniela Hernandez
Distinguished Statistical Secretary - Samantha Matza
Distinguished Senior - Natalie Sorensen
Distinguished Junior - Joseph Sacramento
100 Hour Award - Samantha Matza
Ema Nikitovic earned a Robert F. Lucas Outstanding Lieutenant Governor recognition. She was also retired as our LTG. Jireh Vazquez was installed as our incoming LTG.
Talent Show - 3rd Place for Daniela Hernandez and Joseph Sacramento singing the song "I See the Light" from "Tangled."
Digital Poster - 1st Place - designed by Natalie Sorensen (Thanks to Matt Connor for printing it out for us!!) - this poster will go on to compete at the International Convention this summer in Washington D.C.
Non-Traditional Scrapbook - 2nd Place - designed by Joseph Sacramento and Taylor Wickenkamp. Theme was "Service Around the World.”
We then received the following club awards:
-We were designated as a Distinguished Club.
-We received 2nd place for Theme and Major Emphasis for our Christmas Adoption project.
-We earned 1st place for the James Robert Hall Achievement Award - Platinum Division- which is an overall evaluation of our entire year.
Also wanted to give a BIG shout out and thank you to Kris Hokinson for being the male chaperone on the trip. He drove down on his own to help this year and we would not have been able to do it without him.

Club advisor Emma Theel said she appreciates the help of Sarah Halvorson, and the entire McHenry High School District 156 administration and staff.
