Thursday was The Great American Smokeout, a national day where smokers are encouraged to quit. The McHenry County Health Department came out this week during lunches to do nicotine trivia and pass out materials. Our goal is to keep students informed on the negative effects of nicotine.


🍂 Freshman Campus had their annual fall fest! Staff served students ice cream! Students also had the option to get their faces painted. The fest ended with students throwing pies in staff members' faces!

On Thursday and Friday American Studies students participated in the annual Chautauqua! They played figures from either history or modern day and discussed multiple perspectives on social issues they researched. #WarriorReady156

🎨Dr. McTague visited art classes this week to celebrate the students who submitted art for the district's annual Winter Season Greeting Card Contest. Congratulations to the artists who created the top four designs!

Third Place: Mairin Mercado, Upper Campus
Honorable Mention: Taylor Galarza, Freshman Campus
Each winning artist receives a certificate and a cash prize. First place will be featured on the district's holiday card.

🎶 This past week, Concert Band students met over video with composer and performer Aakash Mittal to work on his piece "Poorvi."
MCHS was part of the consortium that, in cooperation with grade schools, high schools, universities, and other performing organizations around the world, led to the piece's creation.
The Concert Band will perform this piece as part of the Winter Band Concert on Dec. 4. Tickets can be purchased at https://gofan.co/event/2251741?schoolId=IL15583 beginning the morning of Nov. 27.

Students in Mrs. Davis' health class completed activities to simulate being off balance, dizzy, and having visual impairment by wearing impairment goggles. They also tried to open candy while wearing gloves. #WarriorReady156
