On Feb. 21, 14 MCHS Key Club members and advisers attended the 74th Annual Illinois-Eastern Iowa Key Club District Convention in Springfield where they worked with other Key Club members and earned several awards.

MCHS members and club received the following awards and recognitions at the convention.

  • Distinguished President - Jocelyn Bello

  • Distinguished Vice-President - Kyra Hanneman

  • Distinguished Secretary - Cameron Mitchell

  • Distinguished Statistical Secretary - John McLaughlin

  • Distinguished Junior - Kaitlyn McAuliffe

Grace Hunt served this year as Lieutenant Governor (LTG).   She was awarded the Robert F Lucas Outstanding LTG Award.

Also, Jia Shah served this past year as the District Bulletin Editor on the Executive Board.  Grace and Jia were also both emcees for the Talent Show on Saturday night. 

Cameron Mitchell was installed as Lieutenant Governor for the coming year.

The club received the following awards:

  • Club Newsletter Award

  • Early Bird Dues

  • Meet Your Mark

  • OnTime Reporting

In addition, the club took 3rd place for Single Service - Platinum Division for our Christmas Adoption project and 2nd place for our donation to the Kiwanis Neuroscience Research Foundation.

Adviser Emma Theel said several other advisers complimented club members for their questioning and behavior during caucusing of district candidates.

Theel offered her thanks to the McHenry Kiwanis Club for supporting the student organization, and also to fellow MCHS colleagues for their support of Key Club.
