LASO Day of the Dead/Dia de los Muertos

There’s a new location for the Latin American Student Organization at McHenry Community High School’s annual Day of the Dead/Día de Los Muertos event.

The Nov. 2 event will now be at Freshman Campus cafeteria where colorful displays will celebrate the lives of loved ones who have passed away. It will be held from 5-8 p.m. Nov. 2 cafeteria at Freshman Campus, 1012 N. Green St., McHenry.

The free family-friendly event features a face-painting artist, crafts, music, raffles and more.

El Vado’s taco truck will be on-site selling tacos, elotes, and horchata.

Día de los Muertos/Day of the Dead is a celebration in Mexico and other Latin American countries to remember loved ones with joy.

An ofrenda, or altar, is made with elaborate decorations for departed loved ones. Many believe the spirits of the deceased come to visit with families.
