McHenry Community High School student art will be on display, along with art from other McHenry County high schools, during the Fox Valley Conference Art Show that opens Wednesday (April 5) at McHenry County College in Crystal Lake.
About 40 pieces from McHenry will join artwork from students at several other schools at the annual art extravaganza that runs through April 15. Each school’s teachers select a wide range of both 2D and 3D artworks, drawing, painting, printmaking, mixed-media, illustration, photography, graphic design, ceramics, sculpture, and jewelry.
Teachers looked for works of art with purposeful exploration of concepts, technical media application, imaginative expression, formal compositional qualities, as well as the meaning and function of the art work.
The 2023 Fox Valley Conference Art Show is on display in the lower wing of Building A at McHenry County College, 8900 U.S. 14 in Crystal Lake, hanging in the Epping Gallery, Student Gallery, and Artspace 144, just beyond the cafeteria. The following high schools are participating in this juried show: Cary-Grove, Crystal Lake Central, Crystal Lake South, Dundee-Crown, Huntley, Harry D. Jacobs, McHenry Freshman Campus, McHenry Upper Campus, Prairie Ridge, Hampshire, Burlington Central high schools.
