McHenry Community High School District 156 Portrait of a Graduate
What does it take to succeed after high school in an ever-changing world? District 156 set out to answer this question through a recent journey to develop a Portrait of a Graduate.
During the 2022-23 school year, a core committee of teachers and students, school board members, school administrators as well as community nonprofit and business leaders – both from the private and public sectors – met to devise a vision of what a successful MCHS graduate would look like.
Over the course of several months, the committee fine-tuned that vision of what skills and abilities our graduates need to become capable and civic-minded adults. The Portrait of a Graduate was presented and adopted in the spring of 2023.
Read on to learn more about each of the four core values that surround those essential skills and make up our Portrait of a Graduate.
